J+B | Royalton Riviera Resort Cancun, Mexico Wedding

When Bri and Jeremy reached out to me about their destination wedding at The Royalton Riviera, An Autograph Collection Resort & Casino in Cancun, Mexico, I almost screamed with excitement. I had another destination wedding in Mexico in Los Cabos before theirs and fell in love with photographing weddings in Mexico. I am based in Denver, Colorado but always grateful to be able to travel to new destinations. The beach wedding vibe is so different than Colorado’s mountainous backdrops.

I met with Bri and Jeremy over Zoom, because they were actually planning their wedding all the way from Canada. Fast forward to Mexico, and we finally met face to face at the resort pool over piña coladas. They immediately invited me and my travel companion into their group of friends and family. They had about 20 guests join them all the way from Canada, which was a wonderful vacation for everyone. The Royalton Riviera is a stunning venue for a celebration, with lush palm trees and flowers surrounding the resort and sweeping views of the beach. The resort also took care of a lot of the wedding details, such as setting up the ceremony, creating a bouquet for Bri and her maid of honor, and providing food, cake, and drinks at the reception. You can see their wedding packages here. I love all-inclusive resorts because oftentimes, you don’t have to worry about a thing other than relaxing with your favorite people.

The getting-ready photos started with the most hilarious champagne pop (peek at the photos), and then the ceremony itself overlooked the beach in the Ocean View Gazebo which was absolutely stunning. Bri and Jeremy exchanged vows and rings, and everyone in the audience was beaming. This was followed by mixed drinks near the beach and their daughter June getting the party started with some daytime dancing! Then I took Bri and Jer to the beach and we took some gorgeous sunset couple photos. I’m in awe of these two!

Once the night transitioned to the reception, dinner was served, the cake was cut, and then the party really got started. In typical resort fashion, the shots were bottomless and champagne and mojitos were abundant. Everyone tore up the dance floor, and of course, June continued to be the #1 hype person! The night ended with Bri and a few others sliding down the kiddie pool water slides in their dresses, which was something I will never forget and maybe one of my favorite ways ever to end a wedding.

Bri and Jeremy were such lovely and hospitable souls the entire time, even inviting me onto the dance floor as I was taking reception photos. I got to hang out and get to know them even better at their after-party and the next day on the beach, and I totally adore them! I love how photography connects me to people across the globe, and now I have new friends in Canada. Thank you SO much J + B for inviting me to capture your perfect Mexico wedding!
