E+L | Surf Hotel & Chateau, Buena Vista, Colorado Wedding
It goes without saying that I LOVED photographing Evan and Lisa’s wedding at the Surf Hotel and Chateau in Buena Vista, Colorado! Evan and Lisa are the coolest couple and I had been excited about their wedding since 2020. Thank you 2021 for allowing them to finally celebrate!
Before their getting ready photos, I took a few laps around the hotel (like I always do before a wedding. I scope out the best photo spots beforehand!) I was immediately inspired by the hotel’s unique architecture, decor, and large windows that provided my *favorite* soft window light. It’s honestly a freaking awesome hotel and venue, both inside and out. My amazing second shooter Katie McNaught captured Evan getting ready while I stayed with Lisa as she put on her dress with her mom. Evan and Lisa told me the pandemic gave them plenty of time to pick out exactly how they wanted to decorate their wedding and the furniture they rented from Hazel Grove Rentals was gorgeous, as were the florals from Parsley and Valentine! They nailed every last little detail, down to Evan’s green suit.
We did their first look by the creek and they took a sweet moment to soak up each other’s company before the ceremony. Then we snapped some couple photos which these two absolutely SLAYED. I think my favorites are of them hanging out and snuggling on the majestic red couch. The clouds and warmth provided us the perfect fall weather for a September ceremony. It was important for Evan and Lisa to celebrate with their favorite people, so we made sure to snap lots of photos with their friends and family after the ceremony and during the cocktail hour. I always make sure to get plenty of photos of guests (candids and planned) because I want my couples to remember exactly who was there and what moments they shared with their loved ones. Their reception was too much fun and everyone was getting down on the dance floor. The courtyard fireplace provided a cozy atmosphere for people to chat and have a fancy cocktail. When the day finished, Evan and Lisa invited me to the after-party in the courtyard outside of their room to have a drink and hang out with their guests. I felt so honored that they wanted to include me in their celebration! I loved getting to know their guests better and having a moment to actually hang out with them. I love all of my couples so much so getting to spend time together makes my heart happy.
