E+C | Garden of the Gods, Colorado Engagement Photography
When Emily and Collin told me one of their favorite spots is Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, I knew it would be the perfect spot for their summer engagement session! Garden of the Gods is such a unique part of Colorado, with dramatic red rock formations as far as the eye can. It is also lined with gorgeous mountainous views and a wide spectrum of beautiful colors. Plus, the sunset we got on the night of E+C’s engagement session was unreal. It reminded me of an Arizona sunset with warm, golden rays soaking the couple in a beautiful light. It was such a dreamy backdrop to show off their love.
If you can’t tell from the photos, Emily and Collin were so much FUN. They were super down for whatever silly prompt I threw at them, so I had them climbing rocks, picking each other up, and taking swigs of champagne all evening. Their session was exactly how I strive to make all of my engagement sessions feel - more like hanging out and having an awesome time with each other instead of a formal, stiff photo shoot. My focus is always cultivating laughter and real emotions. I want to see how your smile looks after I have your partner whisper something silly in your ear. I want to see how you hold each other when you’re cold or how you jump into each other’s arms after not seeing each other for a while. I want to document how you’d snuggle on the couch, or where you’d kiss your partner if you couldn’t kiss their lips. These seemingly little moments are authentic representations of YOUR relationship, (and that’s actually a big deal!) Your engagement session is more than just beautiful photos of how you look against beautiful scenery. These photos are a time capsule of how you felt before your wedding, during that exciting newly engaged bliss that signifies the beginning of eternity together.
I always have couples come into a session telling me they are nervous to be in front of the camera. I assure people with photos like these that sessions don’t have to be scary, and they are just me capturing 2 people in love having a freakin’ great time with each other. Even if you aren’t the type to climb all over each other, I have a million prompts up my sleeve that will bring out those smiles, laughs, and even sometimes happy tears.
I am so thankful I got to meet such incredible humans like Emily and Collin and I’m even more excited for their wedding now!
