Boulder, Colorado Engagement Photography Session

One of the greatest ways to celebrate your engagement is doing a photography engagement session amongst the Boulder flatirons. Whether you are from out of state, or born and raised in Colorado, Boulder is one of my top suggested locations for engagement sessions that will make you think “wow!”

Boulder, Colorado is such a magical place for an engagement session because it showcases mountainous views, pine trees, beautiful skies, and a variety of nature. There are many hiking trails that are easily accessible and some are just a few minutes of walking from the parking lot, but it looks like you just hiked a whole mountain to get there. Many couples request locations that are an easy walk in order to keep their hair and makeup fresh, so most of my suggestions fall in line with that! Bonus points for Boulder being only about 30-45 minutes from Denver, so you don’t have to drive far into the mountains or get stuck in I70 traffic (if you know you know.)

This engagement session with Logan and Mariah was captured at NCAR Trail, Boulder (National Center for Atmospheric Research). We walked the trail for about 15 minutes, starting at the top where you can see sweeping views of the mountains, weaving through the pine trees, and coming out in a meadow with the flatirons in the background. It is a leisurely walk, although in some parts you have to go up a slightly steep hill so I always recommend bringing comfortable shoes and changing into your engagement session shoes once we reach our destination. I actually had the honor of capturing Logan’s surprise proposal to Mariah a few weeks prior to this session, so it was fun to see them again! I offer surprise proposal + engagement session packages, and you have the option to do the engagement photos either right after the surprise proposal or schedule it on another date. Scheduling the engagement session part on another date leaves flexibility to have a slower-paced engagement session, prepare your outfits, and celebrate part 2 of your engagement.

Side note: Mariah and Logan were giving LOOKS with their outfits here! I loved how Mariah started with a flowy white dress for a summery look (white always looks great on camera), then moved into a longer polka-dotted dress which had a sophisticated summer cocktail vibe, and finished with an adorable white jumpsuit, bandana, and boots, and a leather jacket (such a vibe!) Logan kept his color palette neutral which complimented Mariah’s outfits perfectly. Guys, you can’t go wrong with a nice t-shirt or button-up and fitted pants or jeans for a more casual look!
