K+J | Brainard Lake, Colorado Elopement Photography
I met Kristina and Jess at a bar in Denver a few months ago and honestly thought they were so cool (I mean, obviously). They’re from Florida and decided to elope in Colorado, just the two of them. Jess was searching for Colorado photographers and happened to find my Instagram page, and then made the connection that I was an elopement photographer and that we had already met. They reached out to me, and it was meant to be that I was able to photograph their elopement!
I helped them pick a spot that encompassed Colorado’s beauty and the mountain scenery that Florida lacks. When we were pulling up to Brainard Lake, it was pouring rain but I reassured them that is usually only rains for 10 minutes and then sometimes gifts us a rainbow. Well I was right, because as we were approaching the parking lot, we spotted a perfect, vibrant rainbow! We jumped out of the car, Kristina threw on her dress, and we captured some photos with the rainbow before it faded within minutes. The timing was too perfect. Miraculously we were gifted with a second rainbow an hour later and I truly felt like the universe was being the best ally that day. Since we are all queer, we kept joking that mother nature clearly wanted to celebrate a gay wedding (hence all the rainbows).
Something about being around couples that are this in love really sets my heart on fire. This was one of those days where I was like dang, I’m so lucky to get to be around such joy. There is nothing better than dancing in the mountains and popping champagne. J+K were laughing nonstop, pausing to kiss and embrace each other (and warm each other up because it was weirdly chilly for a summer day.)
Check out their magical day and see what I’m talking about below!
